In this episode, I break down the key elements that have helped me and others elevate to new levels of success in business. First, I talk about the importance of knowledge and constantly learning. Whether you’re an employee or a business owner, you need to understand how your business works from the inside out. Too often, people show up, do their 40 hours, and wonder why they’re not getting raises or promotions. If you want to elevate yourself, start reading, studying, and understanding the different parts of the business so you can bring value beyond just your assigned role. The more you know, the more valuable you become, and that’s how you move up.
Next, I dive into sacrifice and taking risks. Success doesn’t come without sacrifice, and if you’re in a role where there’s no room for growth, you may need to find a new company or create your own path. At Genesis, we create opportunities for those who show they’re ready to take on more, whether that’s profit-sharing, becoming a clinic director, or even getting equity in a clinic. But if your company isn’t providing growth opportunities, it’s time to take control of your own future. It’s also about taking chances. So many people are held back by the fear of “what if,” but you can’t let that stop you. Taking calculated risks is necessary to get to the next level, and as Warren Buffett says, sometimes you need to bet big on the opportunities that come your way.
Lastly, I emphasize the importance of continual growth and consistency. You can’t just stop at learning one new skill or making one sacrifice. Success requires constant growth, learning new things, and being consistent. I’ve worn many hats at Genesis, from head of sales to head of branding, and each role required me to keep pushing myself and expanding my skills. Showing up consistently, taking on new challenges, and always being ready to improve are what set you apart in business and life.
