In this episode of the podcast, I talk about one of my unlikely inspirations—Napoleon Bonaparte. Now, don’t confuse him with Napoleon Dynamite, but the French general who left his mark on history. He was short, I’m short. He was a conqueror, and while I haven’t conquered countries (yet), I am working on conquering the business world, especially in the medical and aesthetic space. One of his quotes has stuck with me: “The human race is governed by its imagination.” This quote perfectly captures the power of imagination, not just for visualization and goal-setting, but for influencing your team, your clients, and ultimately shaping your success.

I’ve noticed that too many professionals, especially doctors, rely heavily on data and facts in their presentations. Don’t get me wrong—data is important, but information alone doesn’t move people. You have to connect with them emotionally, and that’s where storytelling comes in. In my own presentations, I’ve made it a point to share stories from my entrepreneurial journey, whether it’s working in a prison, living with crack addicts, or selling my old car to finally get a McLaren. These personal stories resonate with people in a way charts and numbers never could, and the feedback I’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive.

If you want to influence people, whether in business or life, start looking for your own stories. Think back to powerful or emotional moments that shaped you. These are the stories that will help you communicate your message and connect with others on a deeper level. As Napoleon said, “The human race is governed by its imagination,” and those who tell the best stories really do rule the world.

Welcome to The Spinoso Podcast hosted by CEO, doctor, comic book geek, and car guy, Alex Spinoso. I help people and companies grow - especially in the medical business. While my experience and expertise is in scaling all types of medical businesses to 7, 8, 9-figures or more, I can be a mentor to anyone who wants to take ownership of their lives, become a better leader at home and at work, and overcome any obstacle that stands in their way.
