When it comes to partnerships and strategic alliances, I’ve always believed in creating win-win situations. Many times, when I approach business owners, their clinics aren’t for sale, and they may not even be considering growth. As a result, people often get defensive when you ask if they’ve thought about selling or scaling. That’s why I take a different approach—I focus on building relationships first. I make it a priority to learn about their business, their goals, and their “why.” Everyone is driven by their own aspirations, so understanding those is key to offering solutions that align with their needs. Whether they want to increase income, expand to multiple locations, or reduce costs, I show them how collaboration, not competition, can help them achieve their vision.
I’ve found that many business owners are used to carrying all the weight themselves. They handle everything—marketing, bookkeeping, operations—and often have no one to share the challenges with. Offering support, resources, and even a sense of partnership can be a game-changer for these owners. Sometimes, they’re even willing to give up equity in exchange for having someone who is in the trenches with them. This same principle applies to the partnerships we build with service providers, like our marketing and pharmaceutical companies. These relationships allow us to run smoother, provide better customer service, and ultimately grow stronger. It’s all about creating alliances that benefit everyone involved.
One of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make is thinking they can do everything alone. Even the most successful people, like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, built their empires by leveraging strategic partnerships. Bezos owns less than 9% of Amazon now, yet his collaborations have made Amazon a global powerhouse and him one of the richest people on the planet. The lesson here is clear: if you want to build a massive, successful business, you need to seek out partnerships and focus on growing together. No one achieves greatness alone, and the sooner you embrace the power of collaboration, the closer you’ll get to your goals.
