Dr. Alex Spinoso, MD, is a physician, entrepreneur, author, and speaker who helps medical and aesthetic entrepreneurs build businesses that are profitable, scalable, and sustainable without sacrificing their health, families, or sanity in the process. He is the founder and CEO of Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, a nationwide medical and aesthetic group that at its peak grew to 80 locations before Alex made the deliberate decision to consolidate to 18, rebuilding the company around culture, systems, and operational excellence rather than growth for its own sake. He has founded and scaled multiple businesses to seven, eight, and nine figures, and over the past [16] years he and his teams have treated [more than a quarter million] patients. Today he channels that experience into Spinoso Medical Empires, the mastermind community he founded, to teach physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and clinic owners the numbers, marketing, operations, and leadership that separate a struggling practice from a thriving one. He has also spoken to medical and aesthetic entrepreneurs from the stages of BTL, Elite NP, AICC, and others.
Alex brings a hard-earned background to his work. A first-generation Puerto Rican-American kid from a small house outside Sacramento, he tore his ACL at 13 and was told by the first doctor he saw that he would never play at a high level again. A second surgeon refused to accept that verdict, and Alex became a doctor because of him. After earning his BS from Dartmouth College, he took the long road into medicine: no American medical school would admit him, so he earned his MD from St. George's University School of Medicine, completing his studies across England, Grenada, and rotations throughout the United States, before applying to some 40 family medicine residencies and finishing his training in Palm Springs. He went on to practice [prison medicine and family medicine] before launching his first clinic as a broke med school grad living off Aldi groceries in a tiny Las Vegas townhome. The years that followed taught him as much about himself as about business. Scaling to 80 locations exposed every weakness in his leadership, his systems, and his health; he was hospitalized more than once from the anxiety of entrepreneurship. Choosing to shrink the company was one of the hardest decisions of his career, and the leader who emerged from that process is the one clinic owners learn from today. He now helps them read their financials honestly, hire and lead well, make the hard decisions early, and take control of what they can while letting go of what they can't.
Alex is the host of the Medical Empires podcast, where he mixes real-world business strategy with raw personal honesty through the lens of pop culture, history, sports, and street-smart leadership. The show speaks to the mindset challenges every entrepreneur faces while zeroing in on the ones unique to leaders in medicine and aesthetics, from compliance and legal issues to marketing and culture-building. He is the author of How to Conquer What You Can Control (And Let Go of What You Can't): A Guide to Beating Anxiety and Building Your Business, as well as multiple booklets for medical and aesthetic entrepreneurs. A lover of comic books, Broadway musicals, and disrupting toxic alpha-bro culture, Alex lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife, Stephanie, and their four children, including triplets. Across nearly two decades of practicing medicine, building companies, and coaching entrepreneurs, one conviction has remained at the center of his work: nobody is coming to save you, but you were never meant to build alone.
