I’ve always loved Antoni Gaudi.

If you don’t know who he is, he’s the architect behind the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. The place looks insane. No straight lines. Spirals everywhere. Columns that look like trees. He spent decades building something he knew he’d never see finished. That alone tells you what kind of guy he was.

What I’ve always respected about Gaudí isn’t the style. It’s the intention. Nothing was accidental. Every curve meant something. Even the chaos was designed.

Funny enough, the spiral in the Genesis Lifestyle Medicine logo is inspired by Gaudí. Not directly, but through the Fibonacci sequence that is everywhere in life. Organic growth that’s intentional. Built slowly. Built right.

And even though my house is modern and minimalist, I don’t think Gaudí would hate it. It’s not his style, but style was never his point. Craft was. Our house is simple on purpose. The materials matter. The light matters. The flow matters. Nothing is there just to look cool or fill space.

That same mindset shows up in how I try to build my life.

I’m not interested in companies that are just cash machines. I want businesses with real culture, real systems, and real structure. Stuff that actually scales instead of collapsing the minute I’m not in the room. That takes longer. It’s less sexy. But it lasts.

Same thing with money. I’m not into spending for the gram or flashing dollar bills so strangers think I’m impressive. Most of what I make goes right back into the businesses. Infrastructure. People. Long-term plays. I care way more about durability than optics.

I think this is true with people too. You can look at two people who seem successful on the surface. Same lifestyle. Same toys. Same vibe. But if you look closer, one life is clearly built with intention. Thought through. Reinforced. The other looks fine from a distance but is cheaply constructed. No depth. No staying power.

That’s the difference I care about. I don’t want to be flashy. I don’t want to be trendy. I want to be well built.
Gaudí built for centuries, not applause. That’s the standard I’m aiming for.
