I’m going to share the surprisingly straightforward method we use at Genesis Lifestyle Medicine to determine the locations for our new clinics. Our approach begins with a simple search: we look up the top 50 most populous cities in the country on Google. Next, we check if there are any existing clinics for sale in those areas. If we find none, our next step is to locate the nearest Sprouts grocery store.
Why Sprouts? Because the demographic that shops at Sprouts typically has the discretionary income to afford the cash-based services we offer. Additionally, rather than avoiding areas with existing competition, we actually prefer to set up shop right amidst it. Our logic is solid: if multiple medical spas can thrive in the same vicinity, the area clearly has a substantial client base with sufficient financial resources. This means there’s ample opportunity for us too.
Our strategy hinges on outperforming our competitors with superior marketing, customer service, and patient experiences. We believe that by excelling in these areas, we can attract patients who might currently be visiting other clinics.
Our advice is simple: don't overcomplicate the decision-making process. Focus on large urban centers whenever possible. If you're in a smaller town, aim for the most populous area or where there’s a steady flow of daily traffic. This straightforward approach has been key to our success in choosing clinic locations.
Whether you already own a medical clinic and are looking to scale more locations - or aspiring to start one, I can help you.
